get ready for CANAF 2011
The Black Challenge, Ghana’s national amputee soccer team
hope to get the best of fine tuning ahead of this year’s Cup of African Nations
for Amputee Football (CANAF) when they travel to the United Kingdom for a
training tour by the end of the month.
Ghana which won the first CANAF in 2007 in Sierra Leone but
due to financial difficulties failed to appear at the 2nd edition in
Liberia two years ago to defend the trophy, but now target triumph in the 3rd
edition in Accra from October 15-25.
According to Francis Adjetey Sowah, President of the Ghana

arranged tour of the United Kingdom (UK) to play a series of matches in
readiness for the tournament against their Great Britain counterparts in
Manchester, as well as the Manchester Amputee FC, Veterans and Cerebral Palsy
teams, among others, is all apt with the bid to host and win.
“We are extremely
grateful for the commitment and support of Sports Minister Hon. Clement Humado
and the Ministry as a whole. TT
Brothers and many others who continue to support us all deserve great praise.
“CANAF 2011 is host and
win, no question about that and the training tour to the UK will add more
experience to the team’s preparation,” Mr. Sowah who also doubles as President
of Amputee Football Federation of Africa (AFFA), says.
In a related development,
