Assistant Coach of the national under-17 women team, the Black Maidens, Mallam Nuhu Baba is confident of the teams chances in the final round of qualifiers against Djibouti.

The Black Maidens brushed aside Gambia 7-1 on aggregate in the penultimate round of qualifiers, and a two legged victory over Djibouti will see Ghana make another appearance at the FIFA under-17 Women's World Cup to be hosted in Uruguay this year.

The team is currently preparing for the game against Djibouti and assistant Coach of the side Nuhu Mallam Baba says the team is optimistic of urging out the opponents.

”We are vigorously preparing for our next match against Djibouti. We don’t know much about our opponent but with preparation we can face any side, so we not living any chances but we are going all out,” he told Oman FM

“Playing the away game first is certainly an advantage but it goes down to how you prepare and we still have to prepare over ourselves regardless of whether they are an average or good side,” he added.

The Black Maidens reach the quarter finals of the previous edition in Jordan and remain the only female team from Ghana to win Bronze at a FIFA competition, following their third place finish in Azerbaijan.

This year's world Cup will be hosted in Uruguay between November 13th to December 1st.
