France became a stumbling block to Ghana to reach their first ever World Cup final at the Under-17 level after beating the west Africans 2-0 in the semi-final on Tuesday.

Les Bleuettes striker Kadidiatou Diani scored in each half of the game to increase her goal tally to four in the tournament. She headed home in the 31st minute and beat the Black Maidens goalkeeper in the 89th minute of the game to dash the hopes of the Maidens.

The Maidens were under pressure throughout proceedings and the sending off of their danger woman up front Jane Ayiayem made things difficult for them in Azerbaijan.

The Black Maidens are left with bronze to fight for against Germany or Korea DPR on Sunday.
