Black Queens and Black Satellites yet to be paid

The cash strapped Ghanaian Sports sector is yet to pay two national football teams, the women?s team - the Black Queens ? and the under-21 side ? the Black satellites ? their bonuses.

The Ghana Football Association, which is cash-strapped at the moment, continues to direct all requests for payment to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which claims that the delay in effecting payment of the bonuses to the two teams is rather due to slow administrative procedures at the Ministry of Finance.

The Black Satellites, who were only issued with transportation fares to the various destinations after their return from Algeria have since not been informed as to when their bonuses will be ready.

With regard to the Black Queens, although each member of the team received $40 a day for 20 days during the African Women?s Cup of Nations in South Africa, they are yet to receive their wining bonus of $2,500 a player, which the Minister of Youth and Sports promised for winning the bronze medal.

As a result, some players of the Black Queens Squad have resorted to calling at the Ministry regularly to enquire on when the money would be made available. A source close to the Ministry told JOY ONLINE correspondents that with the nature of the current political situation, the two national teams might receive their monies after the second round of presidential elections has been held on the 28th of December.
