Black Stars arrive in Harare

A 25-man contingent, made of 18 players and seven officials of the senior national team, the Blacks Stars arrived in Harare, Zimbabwe on Thursday ahead of their crunchy Africa Cup of Nations clash with the Warriors on Sunday.

The delegation, led by Mr Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, Acting Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) was met on arrival by Mr Seth Danso of the Ghana High Commission, Mr Cliff Mcllwaine, Chief Executive of the Zimbabwe Football Association and some members of the local FA.

The Stars playing body of 15, which was in the contingent from Accra on Wednesday night, rose to 18 in South Africa, as three members of Obuasi Goldfields, Isaac Boakye, Princeston Owusu Ansah and Kofi Amoako, who were returning from Angola where they held Athletico Sport Avalcao to a 2-2 draw in a CAF Cup competition, joined them.

Goal poacher, Nana Arhin Duah, another member of the Obuasi team and a key factor in the Stars' attack could not proceed with the team because he had sustained an injury in the match against the Angolans.

Caretaker coach, Osam Duodu told reporters that the Stars were in to win and that even though the team has only two foreign-based professionals he was optimistic nothing could obstruct the team's ambition at the Harare National Stadium on Sunday.

Baffour Gyan of Slovan of Czec and rasta haired, Granini AduGyamfi of Athletico Madrid are the only fireign based professionals in the squad.

The Stars top the four-nation group with seven points, a point more than the Warriors.

The other two in the group are, DR Congo and Lesotho.
