Black Stars leave for Rotterdam without Muntari

The Black Stars left for their pre-World Cup training camp in Rotterdam on Saturday night without influential midfielder Sulley Muntari.

The AC Milan star was not seen at the airport as the Black Stars team made their way into a KLM flight to Amsterdam at the Kotoka International Airport.

The team was given a befitting send off by ex-President Jerry John Rawlings who was coincidentally at the airport making a trip elsewhere.

Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah and Ghana FA boss Kwesi Appiah later arrived to share their final words with the players before they boarded the flight.

The GFA boss did not travel with the side but is expected to join the camp in Rotterdam by Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Stephen Adams was also not spotted at the airport but confirmation is yet to be made whether he indeed made the trip.

Some members of the technical team also failed to make the trip on Saturday night.

The Black Stars were led by coach Kwesi Appiah and his assistant Maxwell Konadu. Captain Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew, Jonathan Mensah, Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, Abdul Majeed Waris, David Accam, Samuel Inkoom, Albert Adomah and Jerry Akaminko all made the trip.

The rest are Daniel Opare, Fatau Dauda, Harrison Afful, Jeffrey Schlupp, Christian Atsu, Rashid Sumaila, Afriyie Acquah, John Boye, Kwadwo Asamoah and Rabiu Mohammed.

Midfielder Mubarak Wakaso was at the airport but may not have made the trip with the Black Stars team after he was detected to have left behind a vital travel document.

GHANAsoccernet.com is unable to confirm whether he made the trip as the players went through the restricted VIP section.

Team doctor Baba Adamu, goalkeeper’s trainer Nassam Yakubu and Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara also made the trip.

The team is expected to arrive in Amsterdam early Sunday morning to join a waiting bus to Rotterdam.
