Derek Boateng is hoping his Man of the Match performance against Swaziland will finally earn him more playing time for the Black Stars.
The midfielder has often been left frustrated by a lack of first team opportunities, but he was outstanding in a midfield partnership with Agyemang Badu in the 2-0 win over Swaziland that ensures Ghana have their fate in their own hands ahead of the October meeting against Sudan in Khartoum.
The Ukraine-based player also hopes he will get the nod to start in that game and feels he played well enough on Friday night to merit more playing time in future.
“It is going to give me a lot of confidence now,” he tells KickOffGhana.com. “I hope that tonight I proved I can hold down the midfield well and contribute significantly in Ghana games.”
Boateng's performance is certain to earn him a place in the starting line-up in Monday's international friendly against Brazil in London.
