Kevin-Prince Boateng played for 76 minutes before being substituted due to a suspected shoulder injury on Friday night.
The Ghanaian midfielder had been impressive while he was on, being the creative link in Milan’s 2-2 home draw against Lazio.
He had received a poor challenge in the 49th minute from André Dias – who was yellow carded – before landing awkwardly two minutes later. Boateng was given some first aid attention and was soon back on the pitch but he clearly looked uncomfortable.
Alexandre Pato came on for Boateng with fourteen minutes to go but cameras then showed the Milanista massaging his shoulder with an ice pack.
After the game initial reports suggested a shoulder injury but the club would hope he returns especially as Milan prepare for their massive Champions game with Barcelona on Tuesday.
Coach Massimiliano Allegri was understandably worried about the 24-year-old, who was integral in the Rossoneri’s 18th Scudetto win last season. Gennaro Gattuso was also injured in the 18th minute and was taken to hospital.
Boateng was signed by Milan on a co-ownership deal with Genoa for about €5.25 million before being totally acquired by the Rossoneri in May this year
