Accra, Sept 28, GNA - Ambassador John Fashanu, the British soccer legend, is scheduled to lead other retired world-class stars to Ghana, in November this year.

The Nigerian-born legend would in conjunction with the country's football authorities feature former world class players like John Barnes alongside retired African footballers like Abedi Pele, Tony Yeboah and George Oppong Weah in two games at the Accra and Kumasi Sports Stadia. The soccer fiesta dubbed the "the British Soccer Legend Tour" according to Ambassador Fashanu the two games involving the two most glamorous clubs, Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko will climax the tour.

About 20 retired British footballers are expected to team up with their African counterparts to raise funds for the development of football.

The two games have been fixed tentatively for November 17-20. Ambassador Fashanu told the GNA Sports that former stars like Paul Gascoigne, Garry Lineker, Des Walker, Parker, Chris Waddle and Peter Shilton would organise a series of coaching clinic to impart knowledge, skills and experience to younger footballers during the three-day tour. The former English international said he was convinced that the time had come to give something back to Africa in the quest to promote the game on the continent.

He expressed the hope that the programme would provide the right platform to inspire younger and enthusiastic football players.
