Dundee United midfielder Prince Buaben will return to Ghana and bury his Active Nation Scottish Cup winner's medal at the grave of his late father.
Christian Buaben died two weeks before United's semi-final win over Raith Rovers but the player did not return for the funeral, claiming it would have been his dad's wish for him to stay.
After a Craig Conway double followed David Goodwillie's opener against Ross County at Hampden today, Buaben joined in the Tangerines' cup celebrations before revealing his mission.
"It was amazing," he said. "I am so happy. It was something that I always wanted.
"I said I would stay and win the cup for my dad and I'm happy that Conway and Goodwillie did it for me.
"I will now go back home to Ghana and take it to my father's grave and bury it there.
"I give them and the whole team credit, you should see the dressing room, it was amazing.
"Ross County did well, that's why they beat Hibs and Celtic in previous rounds so we didn't take them for granted.
"The team have played brilliantly all season."
Skipper Andy Webster is set to go back to Rangers after his loan spell but Buaben is hoping the United side stick together for a crack at the Europa League.
He said: "I will be happy if all the boys stay here for next season, we have Europe and we want to be together for a while.
"But I don't think the team will break up, I think we will stay together."
Goal hero Conway could not have been more delighted with his day's work.
He said: "There was a lot of pressure on us but I am delighted to win.
"I was delighted with my performance.
"To score two goals at Hampden is unbelievable.
"It is a cliche but it is something that you dream about.
"I have thought about scoring all week as long as we won, so it was an added bonus.
"We brought the cup back and that's what we wanted to do.
"I don't think we would ever have a better chance to win it even though Ross County had knocked out Hibs and Celtic.
"But to be honest, from start to finish, I think we dominated the game.
"It has been an unbelievable season.
"We wanted to finish third and get as far in the cups as we could.
"To get to the final and win is unbelievable."
