Beleaguered Black Stars coach, Burkhard Ziese left Accra last Thursday night to visit his sick mother in Germany contrary to media reports that he has been prevented from making the trip.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) management board which gave Mr Ziese the permission to travel said the decision was taken purely on humanitarian grounds.
Reacting to media reports that Mr Ziese had been prevented from making the trip to his home country, Mr Ben Koufie, the chairman of the GFA confirmed that they initially asked him to put his trip on hold for the FA to sort some issues out but on hearing of the condition of his mother, approval was given to Mr Ziese’s request to travel.
According to Mr Koufie, Mr Ziese who is bearing the cost of his trip would be away for 10 days.
Mr Koufie dismissed fears that because of the persistent calls for his dismissal, Coach Ziese would not return as his predecessor Yugoslav Milan Zivadinovic did almost a year ago.
“Burkhard is definitely coming back after 10 days. And unlike Milan who left without informing the GFA or seeking permission, Burkhard officially sought permission to be away for 10 days and that has been granted,” Mr Koufie emphasised.
