CAF fines Hearts 10,000 dollars

Accra, Feb 28, GNA - The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has imposed a fine of 10,000 dollars on Champions League campaigners, Accra Hearts of Oak of Ghana.

The fine follows yellow cards received by five players of Hearts in the first leg of the CAF Champions League game against FC 105 of Gabon, two weeks ago.

The fine according to information gathered by the GNA Sports is in accordance with Article 130 paragraph 1(a) of the CAF Disciplinary code, which states that it is a misconduct when four or more players are cautioned for minor offences in one match.

In the said game against the Gabonese, five Hearts players were shown yellow cards by Congolese referee John Collin Ebatta. The players include Collins Addo, Ebenezer Tettey, Ernest Okyere, Eric Gawu and Reuben Senyo.

Each card attracts a fine of 2,000 dollars according to the regulations guiding the game.

Hearts will take on the Gabonese in the second leg of the competition, on Sunday at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra. The Phobians will need at least four answered goals to over-turn the 3-0 deficit suffered in the first leg in Gabon to progress to the next stage of the competition.
