Accra, Jan 17, GNA - Officials of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) are scheduled to begin another round of inspection of facilities in the country as Ghana prepares to host the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations, early next year.

The inspectors are expected to arrive in the country in early March. Mr Magnus Rex Danquah, Chief Operating Officer of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) disclosed this to executive officers of SWAG and other sports journalists during an interaction session at the secretariat last Tuesday.

The inspectors as usual are expected to tour the four stadiums at Accra, Kumasi, Tamale and Sekondi, earmarked for the hosting of the competition as well as other facilities.

Mr Danquah, however, noted that work is within schedule as all the construction works have witnessed enormous progress. Contrary to fears expressed by many, Mr Danquah was of the view that the contractors are rigidly following the time-table for delivery. Mr Danquah said he was optimistic that the nation will be fully prepared for the event, which is expected to attract about one million people with 4.5 billion viewers across the globe.

CAF Inspection team, it would be recalled visited Ghana in November last year.

Meanwhile information gathered by the GNA Sports indicates that all the projects are well within time.

A visit to the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra shows a remarkable progress on the construction works so far. The national Wembley, which is scheduled to be completed in October, will have the Osu and Independence stands erected in six weeks time.

Mr Danquah revealed that similar progress could be witnessed at the Baba Yara, Tamale and Essipong, Sekondi-Takoradi Stadias.
