Accra, Sept. 29, GNA – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has outlined the criteria for the draw of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for October 28 in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.

A statement on the CAF website culled by GNA Sports in Accra, said the procedure for the draw will follow that of previous editions.

It said the placement of the teams into the different groups will be based on the results of the last three previous editions; Egypt 2006, Ghana 2008 and Angola 2010.

“Points obtained in the 2010 edition will have a co-efficient of three, those of 2008 co-efficient of two and those of the 2006 event will have a co-efficient of six.

“The winner of each edition scores seven points, five points for the finalist, three points for semi-finalists, two points for quarter-finalists and one point for teams eliminated in the first round,” the statement said.

Ghana’s Black Stars will face Sudan in Khartoum in the ultimate qualifier on Saturday, October 8.

The Black Stars must avoid defeat to qualify automatically as group winners.
