Ghana midfielder Michael Akuffo is confident the experience garnered at the 2014 CHAN tournament will be beneficial to Asante Kotoko in their African campaign this year.
The Porcupine Warriors contributed eight players to the silver-winning squad at the recently concluded Championship in South Africa.
Despite falling to Libya in the finals, the impressive midfielder says the experience of playing in the championship will help the Ghanaian giants to excel in this year’s CAF Champions League.
“It’s a big disappointment to all of us but the experience of playing in this championship will benefit Kotoko especially in the long run,” Akuffo said.
“We have as many as eight players who featured in this competition. The team spirit, cohesion and unity is there and that’s what will spur us on in the Champions League.
“I believe Kotoko will be the biggest beneficiary in all this.”
Kotoko will take on Liberian side Barrack Young Controllers in the preliminary qualifier of the continent’s elite inter-club competition on Sunday.
