Canon Incorporated thrilled by CAN 2008

Accra, Jan 14, GNA - Canon Incorporated, market leaders in the production of office equipment and a key sponsor of the African Cup of Nations are thrilled by the 26th edition, which has just ended in Ghana. Mr Gian Devallier, Managing Director of Canon South Africa, expressed these sentiments when he addressed representatives of Canon's tentacles from Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Europe and their clientele at a reception at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on the final day of the tournament. He said they were overwhelmed by Ghana's hospitality during the competition and praised the organizers for putting up a great show. Mr Devallier poured praises on the management and staff of Oman Fofor and Protech Distributions for their efforts in keeping the Canon business and logo afloat in Ghana.

He also thanked the clientele and the entire external publics of Canon for their patronage and assured that Canon would seek to enlarge its market in Africa and sustain its sponsorship of the African Cup of Nation, which the Company began in Egypt in 2006. At the reception which lasted for well over two hours, invited guests were served with a buffet lunch provided by Labadi Beach Hotel. It was all fanfare as the guests wined and dined and interacted with each other to establish new relationships and reinforce old bonds that would harness business promotion and development. Canon provided VIP tickets to the over 200 guests and conveyed them in luxurious buses from the Silver Star Tower on the Airport Road to the AICC and thence to and from the stadium to watch the final match between Cameroon and winners, Egypt.

At the stadium, the guests were treated to refreshments to quench their thirsts and refuel their energies to enjoy the match and the atmosphere to the fullest.

Dressed in specially designed polo shirts, with the red Canon Logo and the Ghana national flag embossed on them, the guests also had spectator parks containing horns, Canon caps and cups to facilitate their full involvement in spectatorship. It was a very colourful and memorable spectacle as the guests and their hosts enjoyed the match, and reacted severally and differently at the anxious moments and cheered whenever any action induced a cheer. Canon had treated another group of invited guests to a similar treat on the opening day of the championship. The company also distributed numerous tickets to members of its internal and external fraternity to watch matches during the entire competition.

Some of the companies who were represented at the function included ECOBANK, Ghana Reinsurance, Atlantic Computers, Civil Aviation, Intercontinental Bank and Town and Country Planning. CFAO, Anglo Gold and Cal Bank also took part in the Canon party.
