Former Ghana International Shilla Illiasu has advised Black Stars trainer Avram Grant to cast his net wide to enable him get several options in his team for selection for the 2017 Nations cup tournament.
Ghana was on Wednesday drawn alongside Mali, Egypt and Uganda in Group for the continental tournament which will be held in Gabon in January.
Experts of the game the group has tagged the group as a difficult one as games against the aforementioned countries have always been very difficult but the former Asante Kotoko defender is confident the Black Stars will seal qualification.
Speaking in an interview with Kapital radio, Illiasu said he’s hoping some players who are injured could recover while Avram Grant looks globally to the best of players to participate in the tournament.
[Frankly speaking when I watched the draw, I was like the day has come for Ghana football to prove to the African continent that we are capable of doing what everyone is expected from us but the most important thing is that our players especially those who are integral part of the team, the likes of Dede and Kwadwo Asamoah should regain their fitness back into the team and those who are already fit, it is my prayer that they should stay fit].
He continued [I am very positive that if we can perform if we get all players intact and this brings me back to the coach itself that he will try to cast his net wider to make sure every capable Ghanaian player get a look].
