Charles Taylor Breaks Ishmael’s Record

He was an unsung lone ranger with Heart's city rivals, Great Olympics. Though a rebel leader on the soccer turf by then, a switch to the Phobian camp elevated him. Hearts of Oak's captain, Charles Taylor has led his team to an enviable sixteen matches unbeaten the worst being a draw.

Now a warlord in Ghana soccer, Charles Taylor has surpassed teammate, Ishmael Addo’s record by scoring a hat-trick on two occasions and is due to be presented with the balls by the Ghana Football Association.

The FA would be presenting the warlord with the balls before Heart's game against Obuasi Goldfields at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

Charles Taylor, who for various reasons was left out of the Black Stars squad for the African Cup of Nations 2002 hosted by Mali, has been called up by new coach Millan Zivadinovic to join the Black Stars.

With fourteen more matches to go, Charles Taylor is likely to hit more than sixteen goals this season.

He now leads the goal king race with thirteen goals. His thirteenth goal was scored against Asante Kotoko in Heart's three-nil spanking last week.

But, the warlord would have to improve his disciplinary record as he can never be guaranteed a clean sheet on the pitch within the 90minutes that he leads his rebels as his disciplinary track on the field is bad and always gets him into the referees books.
