Englishman Steve Pollack may be celebrating his first ever trophy
in Ghanaian football courtesy Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Medeama SC in the final
of the inaugural GHALCA Glo G8 tournament, but the Englishman knows tougher
challenges lay ahead of his side.
He has exclusively told ALL SPORTS that beating Nania in coming Sunday’s
Ghana Super Cup won’t be easy. That is why his side are not entertaining any
rest at all despite just concluding a hectic Glo G8 tournament in which they
played 5 games in two weeks.
“This will be my first game against Nania but I know Abedi very
well, I have spoken to him and I know his side plays great football. We all
know that Nania also beat Chelsea the last time we met so it won’t be easy. We are
just going to rest for a day tomorrow and get back to training because we have a
big game which we have to win,” Pollack told ALL SPORTS even as he was busy on
the phone texting messages to his wife and children.
He also commends Medeama for putting up a tough opposition in the
Glo G8 final despite Chelsea clinching their third silverware in four months following
the Premier League and President Cup triumphs.
“It wasn’t an easy win
because Medeama were very strong. Before the game they had scored nine goals in
4 games in the competition so we knew it was going to be tough. I’m glad that
my players were able to handle them and we have this trophy to show for our
efforts. It’s an honour and I’m glad,” stated Pollack.
