Kumasi, April 7, GNA - Mr Sylvester Asare-Owusu, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has hailed the team's performance in recent times but said they still had more room for improvement. "We have not yet reached there as most of the players are young and up and coming and it will take time to ensure their maturity to the standard we wish", he stated.
Mr Asare-Owusu who was speaking to newsmen after the Kotoko-Wikki Tourists Confederation Cup second leg match in Kumasi on Sunday, said however that in spite of this, the Club has the potential to go places
if they sustain their current form. He noted that management had instituted pragmatic measures to ensure that most of the players played on the local scene for a considerable number of years to make sure that they mature enough before they sought greener pastures outside.
This measure, he indicated, formed part of management's plan to develop the career of the players to an appreciable standard to benefit the nation.
Commenting on the team's participation on the ongoing Confederation Cup competition, the Kotoko CEO was hopeful they would go far if supporters rally solidly behind the team even in times of difficulties.
"What we need now from our supporters is their prayers and material support to enable the team to achieve its goals in winning the continental title", he told newsmen.
Mr Asare-Owusu said on the local scene they were leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the win this year's One-touch Premier league and that it behoves on the players to shun complacency and be disciplined on the field of play during the second round matches to make their plan come to fruition.
