CARSON, Calif.– Chivas USA has signed defender Seth Owusu, a versatile back with experience on the Ghanaian National Team, on a loan from Medeama SC of Ghana.
The 20-year-old Owusu has been with Chivas USA for two weeks and will be eligible for Saturday night’s match against the Sporting Kansas City, taking place at 7:30 p.m. PT at The Home Depot Center.
“Seth is a player that we’re really excited about, and I’m happy to officially welcome him to Chivas USA,” said Head Coach Robin Fraser. “I’ve been following him for a little while now, and he has a lot of qualities that will help us this season.”
Owusu, a tall, strong defender who plays both on the left side and centrally, was born on Sept. 12, 1990 in Accra, Ghana. Beginning his career with Ghanaian Second Division club FC Medeama in 2007-08, Owusu then joined First Division clubs Real Tarkwa United (2008-09) and FC Medeama (2009-10). Recently, Owusu played with Medeama SC in the Glo Premier League in Ghana. He also has experience on the Ghana U-17, U-21 and full national teams.
