Ghana striker Emmanuel Clottey marked his debut for Esperance in their 4-1 victory over Gabès in the Tunisian Ligue 1 on Sunday.
The 25-year-old was handed a starting role by coach Nabil Maaloul and lasted 68 minutes but was unable to find the net.
Clottey was substituted by Khaled Mouelhi as Iheb Msakni scored to add to a Youssef Msakni hat-trick to help the Mkachkha cruise to victory.
Compatriot and Ghana teammate Harrison Afful lasted the entire duration of the game for Esperance and came close to scoring in the 18th minute.
Clottey joined Esperance from Ghanaian side Berekum Chelsea in early September in a deal worth US1.5m.
Esperance lead the Tunisian league with a five point difference.
