Coach Attuquayefio to quit active coaching

Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, Technical Director of Liberty Professions, on Thursday said he would quit active coaching after the 2003 soccer season.

Speaking at the Accra Sports Stadium at the weekend, Atuquayefio who is one of the celebrated Ghanaian coaches said, "I've had enough of active coaching and I think I have no regrets at all with my achievements so far. I think its time I leave the field for other young coaches to take up the challenges because age is also catching up on me". Sir Attuquayefio stated.

According to Attuquayefio, he is not quitting soccer entirely because he would impart his rich experience and knowledge with young players at Liberty Academy. "This is the main reason why I travelled to France recently to acquaint my self with more knowledge on the managing soccer academy". Coach Attuquayefio explained.

Commenting on his long cherished desire to be the future Chief Executive of Accra Hearts of Oak, the coach did not mince words of his desire to grab the opportunity when it presents itself. "As everybody knows I have registered my name for that position already and there is no way I would refuse it when the I'm called upon to do the job".

Coach Attuqayefio is on record to be the only coach to have guided Ghana's premier club Accra Hearts of Oak to the club's first continental honours by winning the Africa Champions League and Super Cup in the 2000 and 2001 soccer season.

Coach Attuquayefio also led Hearts to win three premier league trophies and knockout competition during his stay with Hearts. The coach has also won many honours including SWAG Coach of the year, GFA coach of the year and Africa's best coach all between the 2000 and 2001 soccer season.
