Ghana Coach Goran Stevanovic is currently in the process of pruning down his squad to the required number since he has exceeded his 23-man squad target for the Africa Cup of Nations.

A lot of speculations are flying around over the Serbian trainer’s provisional list before they emplane to South Africa for a training tour but his assistant Akwasi Appiah has confirmed the composition of the squad is still a work in progress.

“I have been in touch with Plavi almost on a daily basis and we are still in the process of getting our final squad,” he told Asempa FM.

“We are currently looking at about 28-30 players but I am sure the required number will be arrived at by the time we are expected to make the announcement.”

Appiah however admitted to difficulties in their bid to arrive at their final 23-man squad for the tournament in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

“Currently we are in the process of cutting down the number to the required 23 and it has been very tough because Ghana is blessed with numerous quality players who are all doing well but we can only take 23 which makes it a very very difficult job,” he said. “We are however very confident we will come out with the best for the country for the tournament.”

Stevanovic will announce and defend his call-ups for the tournament at a Press Conference in Accra on December 15.
