Ghanaian midfielder Winful Cobbinah has emphasized that the standard of the Saudi Premier League is as competitive as other leagues around the world and believes he could excel there.

The 23-year-old joined Najran SC, who are based in southwestern Saudi Arabia, last year, scoring three goals in his first four games to become one of the team’s key players.

“Getting an explosive start by scoring some crucial goals when I signed for Najran is the work of God and determination on my side. I’m very glad to be here and though this is just a stepping stone, it will help me get to my peak for a big move” Cobbinah told Goal on Friday.

“The standard of the league is high. We have big and well established teams here with good players as well. There is a huge influx of players from Europe, South America and Africa. I think our league is very competitive,” he said.

Cobbinah, who scored a memorable goal for Hearts of Oak against Kumasi Asante Kotoko last season, said he would work hard in order to land a big deal at a top club.

“I want to do well at this club, help them win titles and get to my peak before I go to a bigger club next season. I have some club’s in mind but that will be personal for now.

“My coaches, the supporters and the people here are nice to me and I am enjoying a little bit of myself here. A little bit because here is not like Ghana they have their own rules,” he said.

The Giants of the South finished 11th last season.
