Cape Coast, August 31, GNA - The combined Central Region schools football team on Sunday played a highly determined game to hold the Under 17 football team of Abura Odonase Schalke '04' to a 1-1 drawn game in a friendly football match at Odonase.
After a goalless first half, both sides tried to out play an aggressive game to carry but it was Schalke 04 who had the edge the attack and managed to break the deadlock by getting the first goal through their midfielder, Shadrof Baffoe in the 56th minute. The combined schools team after the goal forced the tide in their favor dictating the pace of the game and it came as no surprise when they were awarded a free kick in the 68th minute for centre half, Ebenezer Yomo to score the much needed equalizer.
The match formed part of the schools' team's preparations towards the National Sports Festival scheduled for next month.
In another friendly match, Twifo-Praso Noble Kings beat the regional branch of the Association of Sports Broadcasters 2-0 at the Sakora Park at Twifo-Praso.
The two goals were scored in the first half through Nana Amissah and Kwabena Alhassan in the 10th and 43rd minutes.
