Confusion Grips Hearts' Opponents

Engen Santos care-taker coach David Notoane has called for the club to sort out the mess with former head coach Boebie Solomons.

Solomons was dismissed as head coach of 'The People's Team' earlier this month, but the former Santos star has still been attending the club's training sessions.

Now Notoane concedes that the situation has become "unsettling", despite re-iterating that he has no beef with Solomons.

"The boys are virtually training in the shadow of the man who was calling the shots not so long ago. It must be as irritating for them as it has become for me," Notoane told the Cape Times.

"That chapter has to be closed so that I can carry on with my job. It can't be right for a former coach to hang around on the training ground and have discussions with players afterwards.

"I don't know the latest developments in the matter, but it's time that the club sorted things out with Boebie. Both parties need to move on."

However, Solomons claims that the only reason for his presence at Hartleyvale, is to fulfill his contract obligations.

"I have been informed by the club that I have been relieved of my duties as head coach. But that's where the communication ended.

"Until the matter is cleared up, I have to be seen as having reported for duty as required by my contract. If I don't, Santos could turn around and claim that I had left my position voluntarily.

"I am not at the training sessions to be a bad influence or to disrupt anyone's plans. But I have to protect my rights."

Santos face Bush Bucks in a Castle Premiership fixture at Athlone Stadium on Wednesday evening and Notoane is hoping for his first win as head coach, albeit in a care-taker capacity.

"I would have loved to have played them (Bush Bucks) after they had held Chiefs to a draw," said Notoane.

"I expect them now to be fired up for the clash. They've just landed a major sponsor and the heat will be on them to pick up points in the league."
