Contractors to hand over Kaladan Park in June

Tamale, May 2, GNA - Contractors working on the re-grassing of the Kaladan Park in Tamale have assured officials and supporters of Real Tamale United that all works relating to the project would be finished and the Park would be ready for use in the first week of June.

Mr Nantogma Adam Wumbei, Northern Regional director of Parks and Gardens who are undertaking the project told the GNA at the weekend in Tamale that the only obstacle delaying the job was the unavailability of water saying, "Now that the rains have started, we would make sure that the Park is ready for use in the first week of June."

He said they were at the moment "sprinkling the grass with organic manure and would roll and mow the field soon" adding, "We would not disappoint supporters and sympathisers of RTU by not allowing them to use the Park."

Last week, the management of RTU announced their resolve to revert to the Kaladan Park from their adopted Bolgatanga venue in the incoming season because of the huge financial budget involved in playing their home matches away from home at Bolga and its attendant loss of revenue as a result of poor spectatorship.

A statement issued by Alhaji Nurudeen Jawula, chairman of the Interim Management Committee of the club said even if the main bowl of the Park was not ready, RTU would prefer the use a training field near the main bowl for their matches to travelling to Bolgatanga to honour their home fixtures.
