Dakodwom FC wins 'Mfantseman' cup

Kumasi, Aug. 15, GNA - Dakodwom Community FC beat their Ahinsan FC counterparts 4-3 on penalties to lift the Mfantseman Challenge Cup after a goalless drawn game in their final match played at Asem School Park, Kumasi.

Eight teams participated in the tournament which formed part of activities marking the "Mfantse Day in Ashanti", a festival aimed at commemorating the migration of Fantes to the Ashanti Region.

It was all joy as Nana Akorful Owese, Head of the Fante Community in Kumasi and the donor of the Challenge Cup, presented the giant trophy to skipper Isaac Mensah of Dakodwom FC.

Dakodwom on the way to the finals beat Amakom Community 1-0 while Ahinsan community also defeated Atonsu community team 5-4 on penalties after they had settled 0-0.

The final match was very uncompromising with the two teams exhibiting aggression in most departments before Dakodwom carried the day through the penalty kicks.

Ahinsan Community's midfielder, Peter Anaman was shown the red-card for foul play in the first half.
