Ghana international Andre Ayew has escaped severe punishment in France, after receiving a match banned following the red card in their match against Lorient.
The 23-year-old, who plays for Marseille, was shown a straight red during last weekend’s 1-0 win at Lorient.
Ayew alongside Lorient goalkeeper Fabien Audard were sent off as tempers flared among both sets of players.
The Ghanaian international was spared the maximum four-match suspension as the Disciplinary Committee accepted his plea.
Ayew said he was only trying to separate the ensuing brawl and calm down tempers at the Stade Yves Allainmat-Le Moustoir.
Ayew will not be involved in Marseille’s French Lique 1 game against Bastia.
