Derek Boateng is suing his former agent
Below is an extract from an article in Israeli newspaper Haaretz:
After Derek Boateng told Beitar Jerusalem's management before the holiday that he was depressed and in need of assistance, the club lent him $200,000 yesterday to be used as a guarantee in a lawsuit against his former agent. Beitar expects to get the money back upon the conclusion of legal proceedings, in another six months. The funds will allow the Ghanaian midfielder to receive his regular salary from Beitar, after not being paid for seven months. Boateng, who has been frustrated for some time, claims that former Beitar chair Vladimir Sklar promised to take care of any legal expenses should the former agent, Dennis Lichter, sue him. The money eases his mind, but he is far from satisfied: He also expects Beitar to cover any fines, which could reach $800,000. He has not produced any documents backing his claim. (Matan Krakow)
