Ghana’s most popular internet news provider, GHANAWEB yesterday presented its research findings on Portuguese fitness coach Mariano Barreto and his agent Lucidio Ribeiro to the Ghana Football Association.

The documents presented by sports reporter Ibrahim Sannie Daara, revealed the real status of the coach according to internet reports from credible sources like the UEFA, Europe’s football governing body, the BBC, and the club of the Portuguese coach.

The dossier pointed out that: “Mariano Barreto is known in Europe as a fitness coach even though he could hold a coaching certificate.”

It used some findings on the internet websites below to back its findings:

GHANAWEB revealed that Barreto’s agent Lucidio Ribeiro was involved in financial controversy with the Cameroon Football Association days before the 2002 World Cup, which resulted in a thaw of relationship. It used the BBC website link below to back its case:

The faxed message urged the Ghana Football Association to take the findings into consideration before it appoints the coach. “I made similar findings on my radio programmes before Milan Zivadinovic was appointed. The GFA ignored the calls and it led to an albatross.” said Ibrahim Sannie Daara.

The sports reporter asked the GFA to use FIFA’s monthly magazine to advertise the Black Stars coaching job which opens the country to “highly experienced coaches, who can be employed at a price dictated by the FA.”
