The Zone One Polythank Middle league started off well yesteday

after weeks of boardroom wranglings with Bazooka FC of Wa who gained late entry

after winning points from Samba Stars took on Bechem United at the Anane Boateng

Park at Abrankese home to premier league side Kessben FC.

Bechem Fc who were the pundits pre-match favourates, expectedly

imposed themselves in the match from the blast of Referee G.K Manu's whistle but

squandered all the chances that fell their way especially in the first half. Bazooka

FC raised their game somehow in the second department of the game but Bechem still

looked dangerous upfront which eventually led to them been awarded a penalty but

Papa Yaw's kick was saved by the woodwork with twenty munites to full time.

Then Drama started unfolding as a group of supporters

believed to be Bechem United fans turned to support Bazooka Fc, who from the start

of the match had to rely on the support of their reserve players. Upon

investigation, the supporters group denied being actual Bechem United Supporters but

are rather Kessben Fc fanatics. The group claimed they were at a funeral in the town

when an official of Kessben FC contacted them to come to the venue and support

Bechem United since the two clubs have the same colours and more importantly a

management member of Bechem had promised to pay them before the game ends. But the

group claimed the said management member turned deaf ears to their plea of getting

transportation fares to their funeral grounds and therefore sang and cheered the

Bazooka FC team to secure a deservedly goaless drawn game to the amazement of the

crowd. Bazooka Fc after the match were thankful the

supporters and asked for the same gesture from the fans in their subsequent matches

at the venue.

In the other group match, B.A Stars FC beat Upper East United by 2 goals

to 1 to enhance their chances of qualifying to the elite division. The next fixtures

comes off on thursday with Upper East United taking on Bechem at he Baba Yara

Stadium with B.A Stars versus Bazooka FC at Abrankese.
