Two-time Ghana Premier League winner Mas-ud Dramani sees a bleak future for Ghanaian football academies if the status quo remains as is.

The nation has had to contend with co-opting foreign-born Ghanaians to come over and Masud feels this trend can be stopped.

“Getting a specific football philosophy is good for the game in every country but in Ghana it will be very difficult. It will be because we don’t have a lot of academies here."

“We need a lot of academies in the system to champion that. We can’t just say we are having a philosophy when we don’t have it in generations. We have to start from the U12 level where the kids will be taught and trained to play a specific style of football and that will cut across.”

“When we don’t have a lot of academies in the system we can’t teach and train players as we want. The players will not only learn about how to play football but also how to relate with each other, what must be done at certain times of the game and a whole lot of other things. Those who are calling for that are right but we need some structures in place before we can do that.”
