Ivorian striker Didier Drogba has blasted Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew and France international Loic Remy for not living up to the expectation of the Marseille No. 11 jersey when they inherited it.
The former Marseille and Chelsea star met Senegalese striker Mamadou Niang, who also wore the jersey during his time at Stade Velodrome, and lampooned the Ghanaian whilst insisting that Niang was the only player who brought dignity to the jersey after he left.
“Loic Remy and Jordan Ayew, who successively inherited the famous Marseille number 11 jersey flopped,” Sports.fr quotes Drogba. “It was only Mamadou Niang who brought dignity to the number 11 jersey after I left.”
Ayew is now on loan at Sochaux where he has scored two goals in 10 games whilst Niang who is owned by Al Sadd is now on loan in Turkey.
