David Duncan felt unlucky as Asante Kotoko fell to a 2-0 Ghana Premier League loss against Wafa in the opening game of the 2015-16 campaign.

Ahead of Saturday’s encounter, Kotoko were unbeaten in their last five away matches dating back from last season.

Striker Charles Boateng's 40th minute strike put Wafa in the ascendancy before the interval, with Samuel Tetteh sealing their two-goal victory minutes inot second half.

“I think Wafa took their chances. That was the difference between us and the goals they scored,” Duncan told Supersports.

“If we had also taken the chances that fell our way, maybe the score would’ve been different. But in football, you never talk about ifs and buts so congratulations to Wafa,” he added.

However, Duncan insisted that the loss shouldn't be a yardstick to measure how their season would end.

“This league is a marathon race not a sprint. It's a long way to travel and after losing the first game, there are 29 more matches to show what we can do.”

Duncan also confirmed that goalkeeper Felix Annan suffered a leg injury when he collided with Charles Boateng and that Tuffour Frimpong picked up a knee injury hence their substitutions.
