Eastern Regional Division Two Middle league enters final stage

Koforidua, May 16, GNA - Soccer Millionaires beat Esberg Academy 2-1 in the Super Middle league of the Eastern Regional Division Two soccer tournament on Sunday.

The tournament is however to go on a days break on Monday to allow for the determination of a protest brought against Fenhac by Akuapim United for fielding two unqualified players in the final match of the group during the qualifying stages on Friday when Fenhac beat Akuapim United 2-0.

At the close of the first half of the Middle league, Fenhac was leading their group with six point followed by Akuapim United with three points and the determination of the protest on Monday would determined who tops the group and therefore joins the other three qualified clubs from the other groups for the Supper Middle league. Already Soccer Millionaires had qualified from group one with four points, Ofie Youngsters qualified from group two with six points and Esberg Academy qualified from group three with six points.

The winner of the protest is expected to meet Ofie Youngsters on Tuesday afternoon at the Kofridua Sports Stadium.

During the qualifying stages, Asana S. Kings lost 0-3 to Soccer Millionaires in a group one encounter while Esberg Academy beat Wait and See F/C 4-0 in a group three match.

Premier Academy beat Obooma F/C 1-0 in a group two encounter, Akuapim United beat Power Lines 4-0 in group four match, Soccer Millionaires drew 1-1 with Suhum United in group one and Wait and See F/C lost 1-6 to Kwaebibirem Fire Stars in group three.

In group four encounter, Power Lines lost 1-10 to Fenhac, Suhum United lost 0-4 to Asana S Kings in a group one match, Kwaebikbirem Fire Stars lost 1-2 to Esberg Academy in a group three match and Ofie Youngsters beat Premier Academy 2-0 in a group two match.

Meanwhile Obooma F/C is facing a fine of one million cedis for failing to honour their final match with Ofie Youngsters last Wednesday according to the rules of the tournament.
