Defender Kwabena Edusei has rejected a five-year contract renewal with Asante Kotoko worth GHS 80,000 (about $24000), according to local reports.
The Ghana CHAN star has been linked with a move away from the club with reported interests from clubs in Libya the most talked of.
Kotoko are however desperate to hold onto the strong central defender and are making frantic attempts to have him commit to a long term contract.
Hearts of Oak are also said to be interested as they search for a replacement for their departing defender Nuru Sulley.
But Edusei is said to have rejected an offer from Kotoko to renew his expiring contract.
Last season’s double winners are said to have tabled an GHS 80000 offer to secure their defender for the next five years.
This offer however, according to local reports has been rejected by the player who is reportedly holding out for a much higher amount.
Edusei is one of the most valued player on the local scene following his exploits at the CHAN tournament hosted earlier this year in South Africa.
He was also named in Ghana’s provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup where he made it to the stand-by list of coach Kwesi Appiah.
