Egypt coach Hector Cuper says he is no Harry Potter ahead of the country's crucial 2018 World Cup against Ghana at home but he is optimistic of victory.

The Group E leaders are bent on avenging the 6-1 defeat suffered three years in the first leg playoff to the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil.

A lot is expected from the Argentine who has helped revive the Pharaohs after qualifying to the Nations Cup finals next year.

The seven-time African champions made a flying start in the qualifier with a come-from-behind 2-1 win at Congo Brazzaville last month.

Cuper has reposed confidence in his squad and now they can deliver on 13 November at the Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

"I trust my squad and we are confident in our abilities to win," he said during a press conference held Sunday.

"Ghana is a big team but the 6-1 result is exceptional and rarely happens in football.
