Accra, Feb. 27, GNA - An eight-member Interim management Committee (IMC) has been set up by the management of AngloGold Ashanti Ghana Limited to take over the running and direction of Obuasi-based AshGold Football Club with effect from Friday, February 25 this year. The IMC to be under the chairmanship of Mr Kwesi Enyam of Obuasi Mine would among responsibilities be expected to steer the affairs of the Club until a permanent management structure is put in place. A press release issued by the Public Affairs Department of Management of Anglo Gold Ashanti Ghana Limited copied to GNA Sports said the IMC will also be responsible for the welfare of the playing body, the appointment of a technical bench and a Chief Executive Officer of the Club.

The release said Anglo Gold Ashanti wishes to confirm that it has mutually agreed with Fortia Limited to discontinue talks on a possible take over of AshGold Football Club. It said the two companies have however agreed that Fortia-owned players currently with AshGold FC will remain with the Club on a loan arrangement until the end of the current Premier League season. It would be recalled that Fortia took over the premiership outfit on October 9, 2008 after the British Virgin Island-headquartered unit acquired the entire shareholdings of the club from AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited.

The consortium which had former Kumasi Asante Kotoko Chief Executive, Herbert Mensah as Chief Consultant, was to be in charge of the day-to-day administration of the Club with the objective of propelling it to greater heights.
