Accra, Nov 13, GNA - Eight soccer academies, including one from the Republic of Togo will engage in the 2005 edition of the Mylik Under 19 Soccer Tournament scheduled to run from November 19 through the 27th at the Liberty Park in Dansoman.

Mr Kofi Bawuah, Chief Executive of Mylik Sports, organisers of the annual competition said the eight teams participating would be pooled into two groups, where they play a round robin, with the group winners playing for the championship trophy, while the runners up challenge for the third place.

Teams participating in the tournament are the Liberty Professionals Academy of Togo, Liberty Professionals Academy of Ghana, Polo Academy, Inter Allies owned by the Jokers twins, the Schwepps Academy, Tom Vernon British Council Academy, Frankfurt Academy and the Pepsi Academy. Mr Bawuah said the future of Ghana football rested in the hands of the soccer academies and called on corporate organisations and sports administrators to support the competition, as it is the only platform available to cadet players to showcase their talents.

"There are many more Michael Essiens and Stephen Appiahs in the soccer academies and they must be discovered and nurtured into stardom to carry on with the great resurrection of Ghana football," he said. The Chief Executive called on soccer loving Ghanaians to troop to the Liberty Park at Dansoman to watch good football.
