The Ashanti Regional Sports Director, Saka Acquaye says Kumasi is ready to host the 2014 World Cup qualifier between Ghana and Zambia on Friday September 6.
He told Kumasi-based Anigye FM that a stakeholders’ meeting has been held to help ensure a successful organisation of the match.
"We had our first stakeholders meeting last Tuesday because the game against Zambia is a category A match. The Police, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), Electricity Co-operation of Ghana were represented at the meeting as well as the deputy youth and sports minister, so that we guard against setbacks in organizing the game.”
Saka Acquaye also told Anigye FM that issues of ticketing, medics and floodlights were discussed, adding that the numbers of relevant personnel for the match were agreed on lighting.
"The meeting covered ticketing on the game, security and floodlights at the stadium. We finally agreed on 300 police officers on duty, 25 BNI officers, 80 fire officers and three fire tenders. One fire tender will be inside the stadium and rest outside the stadium on standby.”
He further revealed that 30 military men will be available with one senior personnel in addition to five doctors and fifteen nurses from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital with three ambulances at the stadium.
