F.C Tanga clears Zone One leaders, Mighty Royals 2:0

It started as though it was going to be a drawn match, between two promising Clubs in Zone One of the GN Bank Division One League, at the Bolgatanga Sports Stadium.

F.C TANGA vrs Mighty Royals was a match that many Sports analysts in the Upper East Region had earmarked as a match to watch and a "cracker", considering the form of the two Clubs and the fact that, Mighty Royals was looking forward to redeem its image after losing 6:0 to Wa All Stars in an FA Cup encounter at Wa in the Upper West Region.

F.C TANGA was also seeking to move up the league table to brighten its chances of staying within the top three before the end of the first round and also playing at home made it more crucial.

The Week 11 encounter between the two Clubs was their second meeting. The first encounter was in a Pre-season Tournament at Toman, Amasaman where the two Clubs drew 2:2.

After 20 minutes of playing and sizing each other on Wednesday May 18, a through pass from Solomon Asekiya (Jersey No. 10) to F.C TANGA's dependable goal machine, Kenneth Mbah resulted in the first goal on the 27th minute, which as expected, brought the Bolgatanga Sports Stadium alive and got the teeming supporters cheering and calling for more goals.

Several attempts to get more goals for F.C TANGA were thwarted by the vigilant defenders of Mighty Royals, hence keeping the score line at F.C TANGA 1:0 Mighty Royals till the end of the first half.

Then the second half began, and straight away F.C TANGA attacked aggressively and fired from all angles to seal its victory, while Mighty Royals also attacked furiously to equalize and possibly win the match, to establish their supremacy in Zone One.

Before anyone could say jack, a wonderful pass from Frank Amoto to Kenneth Mbah on the 52nd minute resulted in the second goal for F.C TANGA. The goal aroused a wild jubilation among spectators and the playing body with everybody praising Frank Amoto for that pass to his striker.

C.E.O for F.C TANGA, Humul Khrusum Tahiru said her side deserved the victory and 2 goals to nothing was a good score line. She believes F.C TANGA has what it takes to qualify for the Ghana Premier League by the end of the season.

She hinted that the Club is almost done with the signing of some new players and she is very hopeful that, their inclusion will make F.C TANGA better and take it closer to its target.
