Benjamin Kouffie, the newly-installed chairman of the Ghana Football Association, has vowed to end corruption in the country's national game. Kouffie has taken on a massive task, and will first try to resolve the bribery scandal that involves Ashante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
Takyi Arhin, a director at northern-based side Bofoafwa Tano, claims that the two clubs offered his side large sums of money to lose when they met in the league.
The accusations have been vigorously denied by the two clubs, who threatened Tano with legal action if they do not issue a public apology in the next 72 hours.
An official spokesman for Kotoko, Kwame Amoa-Bosompem, said: "These allegations are baseless and frivolous, and the fact that Bofoakwa have internal problems is no excuse to make baseless allegations to divert attention."
Ghanaian football has been blighted by corruption for some time, and several delegates were recently indicted for a financial scandal regarding match bonuses.
