FC Nania and Asante Kotoko will play for the MTN FA Cup trophy in a surprising final.

Kotoko, the competitions last winners are favourites to land the trophy against the second-tier side whose debut in the Cup competition has seen them reach the finals.

Nania, after ending the double ambitions premiership champions, Berekum Chelsea, is trying to become the tournament’s most successful team by upsetting the favourites

The second-tier side, Nania, who failed to make the promotion league to the premiership are the usual underdogs, and have stayed longer than the powerhouses.

Captain of Nania, Lawrence Lartey says they will ensure Kotoko end the season with no trophy to celebrate.

“After ending the season without a trophy, Kotoko wants to win this to appease their fans but [we] will not allow this. We will let them disappoint their fans,” he said.

Although Kotoko acknowledge they have been lucky, they are keen to continue riding their luck despite being the heavy favourite.

“We worked hard in all the matches we played on our way to the final. Team work resulted in victories but we also cannot rule out the aspect of luck. It has some role to play in the game especially in a competition like the FA Cup. If you take our matches against Aduana Stars and All Stars, you will agree with me that luck came our way. Converting penalties well requires confidence and shooting with power and accuracy but you also need luck,” captain of the team, goalkeeper Isaac Amoako said.

Either side is seeking to lift the trophy with the winner taking the cash prize of GHS 20,000 while the losing finalist picks GHS 10,000.
