Ghana regained some ground in the FIFA rankings with the Black Stars improving two places up in the September edition released by the world governing body on Thursday.

The Black Stars are now 25th best side in the world while maintaining its third place in Africa behind Algeria and Ivory Coast.

Ghana garnered 827 points to topple West African rivals Nigeria in the September ranking released on Thursday.

The improvement of the Black Stars is largely attributed to the team’s 1-0 win over Rwanda in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier and the friendly win over Congo.

October will provide Avram Grant’s side a real opportunity to improve further in their rankings when they travel to Washington for the friendly against Canada before two CHAN 2016 qualifiers against Ivory Coast.

Argentina lead the way ahead of World champions Germany as well as Belgium in third.

Argentina continues to top the FIFA rankings with 2014 Soccer World Cup winners Germany moving up into second place. Romania crashed out of the top 10 while Wales continue to rank above England.

Spain made a notable return to the top 10 and sits one place higher than 7th placed Brazil.

Algeria (19th) and Ivory Coast (21st) and Ghana (25th) remain the leading African trio with only Ghana progressing up the rankings, up two spots, in the latest edition.
