Fabulous Ladies wins women's league

Kumasi, Dec 4, GNA - Fabulous Ladies emerged winners of this year's Ashanti Regional Women's Soccer League when they held Ghatel Ladies to a pulsating 1-1 drawn game in their 13th week clash at the Wesley College Park in Kumasi on Saturday.

The Fabulous Ladies who emerged the winners of last year's league, coasted home to their second consecutive league title courtesy striker Sila Owusu who scored for her side in the 50th minute against the run of play.

Ghatel Ladies after the goal changed their game plan and attacked from all angles and their efforts yielded the needed result when in the 76th minute, Mercy Adu-Boahen connected home a Cecilia Frema's corner-kick for the equalizer.

Fabulous' Sila Owusu and Ama Saabi were red-carded in the 58th and 79th minutes respectively for dissent but Ghatel failed to utilize their numerical advantage as they threw away many goal scoring chances. Run-away winners, Fabulous who top the league table with 29 points will be playing their last match against Envoys Ladies just for the records, while the second spot will be highly contested between Ghatel and Oforikrom Ladies who will pit their strength against each other in the 14th week fixtures.

In another match played, Oforikrom Ladies whipped Osei Tutu Ladies 10-0.
