Fankobaah deny attacking Referee

Agona Swedru, Jan 1, GNA - The management of Fankobaah Football Club has denied that supporters of the Club attacked Referee Michael Arthur-Dadzie on Sunday, in their crucial encounter with local rivals All Blacks in a second division league match, at Agona Swedru.

Nana Kojo Amakye, Chairman of the Club, speaking at a news conference at Agona Swedru said Fankobaah had information that some supporters of All Blacks had planned to disrupt the match.

He said to avoid rowdyism during the match, the management requested for 20 police personnel "to protect lives and property, but only three police personnel were sent to the stadium".

Nana Amakye, who is also Ankobeahene of Agona Swedru, alleged that one Kobina Togo, who led the attack on Referee after All Blacks had equalised was an All Blacks supporter and not that of Fankobaah. According to the Chairman Kobina Togo was reported to the Police by the Referee and said the management of Fankobaah was not happy and disassociated itself from the incident.

He called on the Ghana Football Association to investigate the incident, which led to the abrupt end of the match in the 85th minute after All Blacks had equalised an own goal. 1 Jan 04
