The management board of the national women soccer team, the Black Queens, on Tuesday released the list of the final 18 players to represent the country at the Second Women's Africa Cup of nations in South Africa from November 11 to 25.
The list includes 10 of the players who participated in the first edition of the championship in Nigeria and later in the World Cup in U. S. A. last year. The players are goalkeepers Memunatu Suleman and Fati Mohammed.
The defenders are Patience Sackey, Rita Yeboah, Elizabeth Baidu, Lydia Ankrah, Yaa Avoe, Genevieve Clottey and Kulu Yahaya. Sheila Okine, Rosemary Konadu, Adjoa Bayor and Memuna Dorku, make up the midfield while veteran Alberta Sackey, Mavis Djangmah, Nana Ama Gyamfua, Gloria Foriwaa and Florence Akyea complete the list for the attackers.
The Queens are paired in group B with African Champions, the Falcons of Nigerian, Cameroon and Morocco while hosts South Africa, Reunion, Zimbabwe and Uganda are in group A.
The Ghanaians engage the Falcons in their first group match on Sunday, November 12 at 1400 hours; and later take on Cameroon on Wednesday, November 15 and the Moroccans on Saturday, November 18 in their final group matches. The semi-final matches are slated for Tuesday, November 21 and the finals on Saturday, November 25.
