The coach of the senior national football team, Fred Osam Doudu is under pressure to explain the circumstances surrounding the decision to drop Skipper C. K. Akunnor, and other internationals from the team.

The Black Stars are preparing for next year's African Cup of Nations to be staged in Mali next January.

The Ghana Football Association made the surprise announcement about Akunnor's exclusion from the team at a press conference in Accra on Friday.

Other popular internationals like Greece-based Sam Johnson and Portugal-based Kwame Ayew have also been dropped from the squad. The GFA explained that the players would not be part of the team for Mali because they have failed to meet the required standards.

But C. K. Akunnor is blaming his situation on what he describes as detractors at the FA who forced coach Osam Doudu to drop him.

The former Black Stars captain believes that team coach, Fred Osam Doudu does not support the decision to exclude him from the squad.

The decision, he says was taken several weeks ago by a few members of the GFA. The GFA failed to inform the players about the decision to drop them before going public with the information.

C. K. Akunnor says he first heard the news from a BBC reporter. Akunnor however said he accepts the decision to take him out of the squad and conveyed his best wishes to the team.
